The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

What a Great Birthday Present

A good friend of mine, Kevin from Dapto NSW recently had his 21st birthday. Well not really 21, but like an old car speedo he may have clocked over a few times.

Anyway Kevin shouted himself the ideal birthday present, a joy flight in a bi-plane. With the wind in his hair, and the sick bag in his pocket, which was not needed, sounds like he had a great time

Ah yes, what has this got to do with vintage Chevs? Well Kevin travelled to and from the Albion Park airport in his beautiful 1928 Chev truck, and what a great picture the Chev and the plane made together.

The following pictures make me jealous, what do you think?

1. The old truck waiting for permission to take off.

2. The truck and the 1943 Stearman 2 seat trainer.

3. Looking out toward Jamberoo, and the mountains in the distance.

4. More gauges than a Chev 4 to watch!

5. Looking out to sea, with the Minnamurra river below.

6. Flying over Kiama, heading round the headland and on our way back.

7. A good shot of Kiama lighthouse and Kiama harbour.

8. Another shot of the Minnamurra river, this time from where it enters the sea.

9.  Heading back to Albion Park Airport, with Lake Illawarra in the background.

So Kevin, how are you going to top that?

For more details on Kevin's 28 truck, please see the posting below.
