The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

Old Gas Stations from another time, long gone

Are we better off with our modern super Gas Stations, or was there something special about being with dad in the old jalopy, and pulling into the Service Station for Petrol, Air, Water, Clean Windscreen and a chat with the attendant.

"Fill er up, and check under the hood" was the common phrase we heard.

Time marches on, nothing seems to stand in the way of progress, but when you think about it, have we lost something special, never to be seen again.

These pictures (sent to me by Chris O in NSW) may help you decide.......
