The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

4 Generations working on the same Chevrolet, restoring a 1958 Impala

From time to time you come across a story that has real appeal , and this is one of them. A son helping his aging father to complete a 1958 Chev Impala that he purchased in 1977.

For the full and well documented story of this "father & son" project please open the link below to an amazing read

And to add a bit more family history to the story, the service manual used to work on the Impala has so far been passed down through 3 generations.

My grandfather at Rowton Chevrolet. (2nd from the right) The Service manual he used to work on 58 chevrolets was the same one he passed down to my Dad in 1977, and it's the same on I use to restore our impala. It's also the same book I'll pass down to my son someday. The book is signed at the top by my Grandfather and my dad, I haven't signed it yet because it's not time.

When our Vintage cars were new - The much loved Sydney Harbor Bridge

Chris from Sydney sent me this the other day, a great video showing the construction of the Sydney Harbor bridge. The most well known bridge in OZ and a major tourist attraction.

1927 Chev 1/2 Ton Truck, a great project

Found this on eBay, has the makings of a great 27 truck, with a lot of the hard work already done.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Other-antique-Antique-Vintage-Chevy-Car-Truck-Project-vehicle-1927-1928-/221271358446?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3384ccfbee&vxp=mtr#v4-41

This is a project car / truck by a gentleman that passed away.
It looks like he was meticulously restoring it.
Unfortunately we don't know much about it. From a forum , some have said it was a 1928 others 1927 or a mix of both to make a good car.
I have taken a lot of photos so you can get a good idea of what is there.
But I HIGHLY recommend your viewing it (by appointment) before bidding.

Please bid accordingly it is SOLD AS IS WHERE IS.

Actual mileage is unknown. The odometer is probably not the correct one for this car.
I only put 50 because I had to enter something for eBay to continue the listing.

No cashiers checks etc that the scammers normally use.
You must have someone with the cash or pay on paypal, USPS postal money order by the time of pickup.

A 1928 Sedan looking for a new home

If I had the available funds this great opportunity would have my name on it already, but alas I am only dreaming.

Just found this on eBay, begging for someone to take it home and bring it back to life.

The eBay posting is as follows

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Other-AB-1928-chevrolet-ab-2-door-sedan-solid-rust-free-body-great-street-rod-project-n-r-/151104735858?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item232e8b4a72&vxp=mtr

SAME REGISTERED OWNER SINCE 1941. HAS BEEN STORED 40-50 YEARS. VERY SOLID BODY. GREAT FOUNDATION FOR A STREET ROD OR PROJECT CAR, HAS ALL ORIGINAL METAL. INTERIOR FLOORS ARE VERY GOOD, UNDERSIDE IS VERY GOOD. CAR IS NOT RUNNING, SOLD AS A PROJECT CAR, COMES WITH CLEAN TRANSFERABLE REGISTRATION.
