The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

Trailer Load of .......Trash or Treasure? (Part 1)

Grant Fowler and I purchased a grab bag (should I say grab trailer load) of Chev parts on Ebay from Wy'yung. Never heard of it? Neither had I. What about Granite Rock? Never heard of it? Neither had I also.

Anyway depending on what side of the road you are on its one or the other, and that's where I did a 573 K round trip with a trailer to collect the goodies.

Loaded on with a tractor, the trailer rode very well on the way home.

What we have to play with is

1 x 28 Chev Truck engine, same as car but with cast iron pistons
1 x 4 speed gearbox
1x 27-28 3 speed Gearbox
1 x 26 3 speed Gearbox
1 x Fly wheel and pressure plate
1 x Clutch Plate
1 x Year unknown Chev rear end

I will make a series of postings with the progress. Best case is we have some good working useable parts, worse case is we have some spares for re-conditioning. Either way I believe we have our monies worth.

Stay tuned.
