The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

Don't Loose Your Head (Chev 4 That Is)

The price of Chev 4 parts is creeping up, and here is another example.

A year or so back you were able to pick up a 28 head in OZ for around $50 to $100, and they were cheaper in the States.

Now if your lucky to come across one in OZ they are over the top, and the US prices are on the climb.

I managed to pick up a couple a while back when they were cheap, so that's one less thing I have to worry about in years to come.

Here is one on offer on US Ebay, with a bid of $200.

On the other side of ridiculous is another one in the States, with an asking price of $895, and hopefully no one is that desperate.
