The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

Day 83 - 28 Chev Ute Restoration (23rd December 2015)

Yes! I have been working on the resto, lots of little jobs that need to be done, but as they don't make very interesting reading I am holding back on a large posting till I can show more details and pictures.

Things like
- Bushes fitted to brake backing plates and diff housing for handbrake half shafts
- Rebuilding worn half shafts
- Sorting out best  parts to use for brake cross bar mechanism.
- Cleaning up about 50 wheel studs to find 4 good sets, (24)
- Measuring up front brake drums to use best 2 out of 5.
- Assemble front hubs, bearings, wheel studs, brake drums
- Select best 5 steel wheels out of 9 available

These tasks will keep me busy over the next day or so, but once done, they are history.

Should have a detailed posting in the next few days.

Cheers
